Online Manipulation Ahead of Australia’s 2025 Elections
Cyabra analyzed online conversations ahead of Australia’s federal elections and uncovered fake profiles attempting to influence voters.
Ahead of Australia’s federal election, scheduled for May 3, 2025, Cyabra analyzed discourse across social media and identified that 17% of the profiles engaged in election-related conversations on X were fake, playing a central role in shaping political narratives. Coordinated attacks targeted both the ALP and the Liberal–National Coalition.
The overwhelming presence and influence of these fake accounts point to a deliberate attempt to distort public opinion, drown out authentic voices, and sway voters.
