Phishing and Fake Campaigns – E-Trading Companies

Uncovering profiles targeting customers of financial service companies, and potential harm done.

Cyabra identified 84 Twitter profiles spreading identical information in just over a month, 66% of these profiles being fake, spreading a fake campaign. There was potential to reach more than 272,000 profiles with the intention of stealing personal information. The profiles advertised false promises and slandered the various companies targeted in order to build credibility. This behavior places companies and their consumers at risk.
