Cyabra uncovered fake profiles amplifying #EconomicBlackout hashtag to attack major brands such as Amazon, Target, Best Buy and Walmart.

February 28's "Economic Blackout Day" started as an organic movement, but was amplified by hundreds of fake profiles, and quickly transformed into an attack against major brands such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Amazon, posing a huge risk to brand reputation. 

 

Content spread by fake profiles reached 5,328,000 views, merging seamlessly into authentic conversations and amplifying rage and mistrust.
