An automated or semi-automated online account that performs actions such as posting, sharing, commenting, or engaging with content at a speed or scale beyond typical human activity. Bots can serve legitimate purposes, including customer support, news distribution, and service updates, but they may also be used to artificially amplify narratives, coordinate messaging, or manipulate online conversations.
